Our 2015-2016 season features the following wonderful artists:

"Autumn Magic"

Carl Rowe, Trumpet
Carl Rowe
James Carlton (“Carl”) Rowe was born in Norfolk, Virginia. After moving to Georgia, Carl started studying the trumpet at age 11 with Richard Hansbury and then Jimmy Taylor. He completed his high school years in Virginia studying with John Derieaux.
He earned a Bachelors in Music Education from Shenandoah University where he studied with Ed Cooper. Earning his Master of Music in Music Performance at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., Carl studied with Lloyd Geisler. Upon graduation in 1971, he joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band as a third cornetist. He was appointed Principal Trumpet 3 years into his first enlistment and remained in that position until his retirement, 19 years later, in 1993. Carl served as Principal Trumpet of the White House Orchestra as well, performing for heads of state and visiting dignitaries. In this capacity he also worked with Frank Sinatra, Beverly Sills, Bob Hope, Johnny Mathis, Harry James, Leonard Bernstein, Itzhak Perlman, and many other visiting musical artists.
Since his retirement from “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, he performed as a freelance trumpeter in the Washington, D.C. area working with the National Philharmonic Orchestra, Chesapeake Orchestra, Baltimore Opera, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Kennedy Center Opera, National Symphony Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony, and the Maryland Symphony. Carl also taught trumpet at Shenandoah University from 2003 to 2013.
Carl was a member of Washington Symphonic Brass and recorded 3CDs with them. He can also be heard on 4 CDs with Brass Band of Battle Creek, serving as Eb soprano cornetist. Carl recorded 2 CDs with Bowie Brass. Carl joined the New Sousa Band for a tour of Japan in 1996 and continues to enjoy playing with that band. He served as Solo Cornet with the band during its tour of China in 2010/11 as well as its two concerts in Iowa, August 2015. He performed in the Solo Cornet section for the Brass Band Festival in Silverton, CO, August 2015. He will perform the HANDEL: Suite in D for Trumpet and Orchestra, HWV 341 for the Autumn Magic Concert.

Peter Eom
Armed with a diverse range of interests stretching from music to physics to creative writing, cellist Peter Eom has been recognized for carrying a unique synthesis of thoughts into musical actualization.
A 2013 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts and a 2013 Americans for the Arts Roundtable Fellow, Peter has collaborated with a variety of artists and arts organizations, including Jaime Laredo, Joshua Bell, Augustin Hadelich, Bill T. Jones, Judith Hill, Universal Music Group, YoungArts, and the National Symphony Orchestra.
Most recently, he has participated as an Americans for the Arts Fellow at the annual National Arts Policy Roundtable to discuss the role of the arts in healthcare, and as a guest artist at Yellow Lounge’s inaugural U.S. concert series.
Peter is also the founder of Melodic Minors, an outreach organization that plays benefit concerts in Arizona. Promoting philanthropy – from building a cancer research center to helping a local family in need – Melodic Minors brings happiness to earthquake victims and nursing homes alike.
He currently studies with Professor Clive Greensmith at the Colburn Conservatory, pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree. He hopes to play his part as a student of the world in promoting a sounder coalescence of interdisciplinary thought.

A thrilling musician capturing the attention of classical critics and audiences around the world, he has appeared with the American Symphony Orchestra, Stamford Symphony, Chattanooga Symphony, Minnesota Sinfonia, Lexington Philharmonic, Jerusalem Symphony and France’s Nice Orchestra. This is his second appearance with the Sinfonietta and he will be performing the BRUCH: Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26 for the May 15, 2016 A Swarm of B’s concert.
