Welcome to the 2023-2024 Season of the Symphony!

Al Vander Peut
Symphony President,
Susan Buffum

Welcome to Our 19th Season!

And what an exciting season it is.  We have many changes that I am pleased to share with you. First, we have changed our name to the Sedona Symphony.  We feel this change provides better name recognition and reflects our home here in Sedona.  Our mission has not changed though.  We remain “committed to enriching the quality of life of our Northern Arizona community through the power of live orchestral music that educates, entertains and inspires.”
Second, we are beginning a new chapter under the direction of our wonderful artistic director Janna Hymes.  Janna conducted our final audition concert last April.  She  impressed us with her ability to bring the best out of our musicians and to provide our audience with a concert that we will remember for years.  You can listen to excerpts of that concert on our website at www.sedonasymphony.org.  Janna is energetic and charismatic and has a history of growing audiences and building community.  We feel she is the best person to lead the Sedona Symphony to greater heights in the years ahead.

Third, we have a new acoustic shell which you can see at the back of the concert stage.  Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to purchase this state of the art shell, which will enhance your listening experience here in the Sedona Performing Arts Center.  We hope you will enjoy this addition.

Janna has selected a wonderful repertoire for this season that features four great soloists and music that spans many generations of composers.  We hope you will plan to attend every concert.  If you haven’t already, please join our mailing list and consider sharing your time and treasure with the Sedona Symphony.  Our website at www.sedonasymphony.org has all the information you need to know.

This is my last season as president of the board of trustees. I close on a note of gratitude to our musicians, staff, board members, loyal patrons and audience members.  It has been an honor to serve this wonderful organization the past 6 years.  I know the Sedona Symphony has a bright future ahead and I look forward to continuing to experience beautiful music with you in this piece of paradise called Sedona.

Gratefully yours,
Sue Buffum
President, Sedona Symphony Board of Trustees
