Gabriel Martins
Praised for his “rich, warm” and “mesmerizing” sound, Brazilian-American cellist Gabriel Martins is one of classical music’s rising stars.
A winner of top honors including the Sphinx Gold Medal and Concert Artists Guild Grand Prize, he has performed at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, and with major orchestras across North and South America. His interpretations of the Bach Cello Suites have drawn acclaim, and he has recently released recordings of the complete set.
A graduate of USC and New England Conservatory, Martins is also an active composer and teacher. He performs on a rare Francesco Ruggieri cello from c.1690 and resides in Charleston, South Carolina.
